Delay controlled proportional fair scheduling in Rayleigh fading wireless channel

چکیده
In this study, the authors consider a delay control problem with proportional fair scheduling in time-varying wireless channels. For proportional fairness of transmission rates among users, a congestion control scheme is proposed for guaranteeing both throughput and delay of the wireless network. Specifically, a scheduling weight is introduced to control queue lengths without degrading the throughput of the network because the delay of users depends on their queue length. Using the asymptotic approximation technique, the throughput and delay performance of the proposed scheme are analysed and showed the multiuser diversity effect analytically in the Rayleigh-fading wireless channels. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves delay without degrading throughput.

Multiuser scheduling over Rayleigh fading channels
Forthcoming wideband wireless systems are supposed to support services with loose delay requirements, which allows for scheduling of data. In this work we investigate fast transmission scheduling for downlink CDMA over a Rayleigh fading channel. For a logarithmic relation between the channel quality and the effective transmission rate, merely scheduling one user at a time may not result in maxi...
متن کاملAn efficient scheduling scheme with diverse traffic demands in IEEE 802.16 networks
In IEEE 802.16 networks, a subscriber station (SS) could be a single mobile user, a residence house, or an office building providing Internet service for multiple customers. Considering the heterogeneity among SSs which have diverse traffic demands, in this paper, we introduce the weighted proportional fair (WPF) scheduling scheme for the Best Effort (BE) service in IEEE 802.16 networks to achi...
متن کاملScheduling gain for frequency-selective Rayleigh-fading channels with application to self-organizing packet scheduling
This paper investigates packet scheduling in the context of Self-Optimizing Networks, and demonstrates how to improve coverage dynamically by adjusting the scheduling strategy. We focus on α-fair schedulers, and we provide methods for calculating the scheduling gain, including several closed form formulas. Scheduling gain is analyzed for different fading models, with a particular focus on the f...
متن کاملEffective Capacity of a Rayleigh Fading Channel in the Presence of Interference
In recent years the concept of the effective capacity that relates the physical layer characteristics of a wireless channel to the data link layer has gained a lot of attraction in wireless networking research community. The effective capacity is based on Gärtner-Ellis’ large deviation theorem and it is used to provide the statistical QoS provisioning in the wireless networks. Effective capacit...
متن کاملMulti-device selection scheduling in non-identically distributed fading channels
Multiuser selection scheduling concept has been recently proposed in the literature in order to increase the multiuser diversity gain and overcome the significant feedback requirements for the opportunistic scheduling schemes. The main idea is that reducing the feedback overhead saves per-user power that could potentially be added for the data transmission. In this work, we propose to integrate...
